I am trying, and failing, to write a paper. I *cannot* so it. I have been sitting here in the comp lab since 4:30, so FIVE HOURS, and I have written JACK DIDDLY.

I despise being an undergrad, and I despise having to take classes that I have no interest in what so ever and having to write long stupid papers on subjects that I cannot for the life of me at all write about.

BAH.

Hate to break it to you, but grad students sometimes get stuck in the same situation. Only you're interested in the subject just not 20 pages worth of interested. The only solution is stream of conscious thought.

See, that? That I can do. As long as there is something I am interested in and as long as the professor wants something more than just cut and dry, boring academic speak, I can do it.

Good thing, though, i don't plan on going to grad school for the time being. yay for being a starving artist!

Sometimes I take that as I challenge. Put on evil hat and give "the bastards" exactly what they want: every statement extensively supported, every sentence well-constructed, built from an outline so that it is structurely sound and absoluely dead-boring. You win the game if you can you put the grader to sleep before you reach the conclusion. Can they really mark you down for being boring? Find out!

On the other hand, they're probably just some poor grad student handed the paper topic by some prof who hasn't thought about the class since the beginning of the semester.

Yeah . . . that, unfortunatly, requires a whole HELL of a lot more time than I have on my hands.

Le sigh.
